![Many of you sci-fi fans will have rejoiced about the new #DarkCrystal series on @netflix, a spin off from Jim Henson’s 1982 film. @la_boca_ were invited to create the poster for the series which, for them, was a very exciting prospect. “I’ve been a fan of anything connected to Jim Henson since childhood, so this was one of those dream projects that don’t come up very often,” says La Boca’s Scot Bendall. “At the time the series was still under production, but we were able to watch some episodes quite early, even before all of the FX had been implemented. It was quite funny still seeing the puppeteers in some shots before they had been edited out. I loved that the show was being created using puppeteers rather than the usual overload of CGI. I also watched the original movie again as reference, and had forgotten just how creepy it was at the time.” The team designed the poster inspired by the crystal itself, and brought in a rich, art nouveau vibe inspired by the set design. “I created the texture on the vines by scanning a banana with Adobe Capture on an iPhone. We wanted the poster to have a sort of fantastical feel, but to still be quite graphic.
