Biography
Not many illustrators take such a hands-on, thoughtful approach to their work as Helsinki-based Linda Linko. Her love for hand-painted typography, experimental collage and mixed media is behind her a rare approach to the sometimes restricted world of graphic design. “My work is simplified black ink or line drawing and/or colourful collage shapes,” says Linda. “My style a little bit rough as I make everything by hand. I want to make my illustrations look joyful and carefree. I also do hand-lettering that looks a bit quirky.” Despite her work passing for fine art over design, Linda has a long list of clients who keep returning to her for her effortless, unique arrangement of hand-drawn typography. “Here in Helsinki I am known for my posters and collage art,” Linda says. “I would love to do more things with patterns; textiles, wallpapers, and fashion.”
