Stylish, witty illustration aesthetically inspired by traditional French cartoons, by Parisian artist Jean-Michel Tixier.

Jean-Michel Tixier was born in Limoges, France and now works from his shared studio in the heart of Paris. His illustrations encapsulate the traditional French “ligne claire” style seen in the works of Hergé, Chaland and Joost Swarte. His characters could have stepped fresh off the pages of Tintin comics, right into the present day. “I mix the old retro ‘ligne claire’ style with a modern and adult spirit,” Jean-Michel says. “I like editorial, fashion and print,” he says. “But I would like to work more for printed objects such as bottles and packaging designs.” A self-taught illustrator, his saucy, Gallic work has attracted high fashion clients in the world of publishing and retail, no doubt because Jean-Michel’s illustrations ooze wit, style and a confidence rarely matched.
